Ihave no patience for sitting multiple hours in a salon chair, so I’m thoroughly awed by anyone who chooses to rock an intricate manicure design. They do all the work, and I get to admire it. And then they do it again a couple of weeks later! Thanks to my lack of personal experience, I don’t have an estimate for how long Taraji P. Henson‘s latest manicure took, but it had to have been a marathon. Nail art is art, and art (for the most part) takes time.
Crafted by Temeka Jackson, Henson’s recent nail art is gilded to the high heavens, with each nail featuring a unique, gold-trimmed design. Worn to the 2024 TIME100 Gala in New York on April 25, the Color Purple star chose an all-green ensemble to compliment her golden manicure (yeah, she knows that Wicked is coming). Her thumbs are the most complex nails in the bunch, with tiny diamonds and rhinestones bedazzling the nude background alongside the thin strands of gold.
The rest of her nails, meanwhile, have more attached baubles, all tied together by the base color and swirly metallic accompaniments.
Now, should we talk about that green?! Perfectly suited for her custom emerald Thom Browne dress and jacket, makeup artist Saisha Beecham crafted a smoky eye look utilizing at least three shades of green shadow. The pigments were paired with fluttery lashes and a glossy nude-brown lip, while a touch of highlighter (and furthermore hydrated skin courtesy of the actress’s TPH by TARAJI body products) sealed the deal.
As for her hair, Tym Wallace gave Henson a deeply side-parted dark copper bob. “Tonight’s hostess with the most influential times magazine cover,” he wrote via Instagram when showing off his work, causing a fan to comment that “Taraji with a bob [is always a] WIN.”
With the gold and the green, this opulent look is giving money. We know Taraji P. Henson is rich in the beauty department, and I’m glad her glam is reflecting it.
